Richard Behr & Co. Bed Hudson by Bodo Sperlein
Hudson impresses with its abstract, tectonic structure. Inspired by the design language of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Hudson headboard plays with the rhythmic arrangement of surfaces. Rigid forms and boundaries dissolve and create light-footedness and surprising perspectives.
|FROM DUSK TILL DAWN.|
|Subtle details, quality and durability are the true luxury of our time. Our natural, handcrafted bedding turns your bedroom into a place where you can let it all fall.
All products from our company can be adapted to individual needs on request.
|ERGONOMIC AND MODERN.|
|Our first independent collection of exquisite beds combines ergonomic understanding, sleep expertise, craftsmanship and the sources of supply of the best materials that have been built up for over a century with the sensitive eye of the London designer Bodo Sperlein.
The four elegant designs combine contemporary design with high quality workmanship and can be provided with other upholstery fabrics on request; including fabrics from the traditional North German brand Nya Nordiska.
|DESIGN AND COLLABORATION.|
|Design that is lived.
Our design standards combine quality craftsmanship with contemporary design that can do justice to the most varied of lifestyles. A robust construction method, the use of sustainable materials paired with a warm, human design language - all of this is what defines quality design for us.
We have therefore been working in collaboration with contemporary designers since 2019. With the London designer Bodo Sperlein, our launch collection of exquisite beds was created in this way. Four aesthetic directions, four individual designs for the best sleep. Find out more about Bodo Sperlein here.
In the collaboration with Richard Behr & Co., Bodo Sperlein's ability to break conventions becomes clear: every design rethinks the headboard of the bed and achieves previously unseen plasticity and visual depth in this market. Our launch collection of ergonomic luxury beds combines the sleeping expertise of Richard Behr & Co. with the elegant, timeless signature of the London designer.
|CRAFT MEETS TECHNOLOGY.|
|We sort, wash, weigh, mix, fill, sew and finish - with a network of over ten international production facilities.
Our production combines many years of manual experience with innovative technology and sustainable processes. From the double-needle seam to special tucks for protecting fabric edges to foams with optimized compression hardness and ergonomically coordinated cutting profiles - the highest quality is based on the careful handling of the material.
|Cotton||All fabrics used by Richard Behr & Co. are made from pure cotton. Our cotton fabrics owe their softness and suppleness to the length of the fibers and the density of the weave (the so-called “thread count”). If fabrics with 300 thread counts and polyester blends are mostly used in the 5-star area, our standard is much higher: All of the fabrics we use start with 500 and 600 thread counts, and with Supima Cotton go up to a thread count of 1000. This is the only way to achieve the luxurious skin feeling that we expect from our fabrics.|
|Feathers and down|| The best down and feathers come from waterfowl - especially ducks and geese. Only these birds have feathers that are incomparably soft, warm and light. Due to their curved shape, they provide support ("loft") and provide a high level of support, which is particularly desirable for pillows.
For duvets, on the other hand, we use a high content of down, as their hygroscopic properties ensure a pleasantly dry and balanced sleeping environment. Feathers and down must be washed thoroughly. Richard Behr & Co. uses biodegradable detergents that protect the protein structure of the feathers and down. This is how we guarantee the durability of the material.
Our down and feathers come exclusively from species-appropriate husbandry and are processed as a by-product of breeding. They have a particularly small ecological footprint and are completely biodegradable. As a hypoallergenic and vegan alternative, we also offer 3D hollow fiber balls, a synthetic fiber that takes into account the latest technological and scientific findings.
|Wooden frame|| After many years of testing, we have come to the conclusion that the best substructure for a mattress is a level platform. We have therefore developed our own substructure and frame made of solid wood for our beds, which together provide an ergonomically neutral and stable base for good mattresses.
For this we only use solid wood from responsible sources. Wood is not only durable and ages gracefully, it is also a renewable and completely degradable raw material, the processing of which in our house is associated with little energy consumption.
|Quality||The effectiveness and quality of our materials are subject to constant tests by independent institutes. For example, we work with the Hohenstein Institute, Ergo-Support Kiel, the Ergo Institute Munich as well as TÜV Rheinland and TÜV Süd.|
